Ka Pow

Boys love loud noises. This little boy was enjoying the sound of the dishwasher detergent compartment door slamming, even though it scared him everytime it slammed, Ka Pow! Watch him blink, eyes get big, then do it again.

...I'm sure I'll later regret letting him play in the open dishwasher when he can reach the knives. I'll think about that tomorrow!

Baby Food!

I'm so proud of myself. So, naturally, I'm going to brag on our blog...because, what else is a blog for (besides bragging on our baby, of course)?

I've been making my own baby food, when I can, and now that Josh has tried out a variety of vegetables (and we know he's not allergic to them), I've started making them en masse. I'm also trying to think ahead to when he'll be eating whatever we're eating for dinner, and how I can serve it to him. So far, he still has zero teeth, but he is getting really good with his pincer reflex and can pick up tiny objects...so within a month or two, I'm betting he'll be eating some finger foods. But right now, I'm still pureeing everything, but also trying to use whatever I'm having for dinner, so it's not a separate production.

Hence, to make a long story short (although I think I just made a short story long, sorry!) I roasted vegetables for my dinner the other night. And Josh got his own pan! I put a ton of root vegetables in my pan with olive oil, salt and pepper, and Josh got the same veggies in his pan, but just with water. After they were roasted, I tossed Josh's veggies in the food processor, in combinations that I thought he might enjoy. Then what he didn't eat that night I poured in ice cube trays, which conveniently enough are 1 oz. portions exactly, and froze them. See below!

Here we have New Potatoes and Parsnip, Sweet Potatoes with carrots and zucchini, and some strawberries and bananas that I pureed the next morning at breakfast while we both ate our oatmeal! I included a bag of just carrots, too.

See how much he loves sweet potatoes with carrots and zucchini!

Oops! Mommy missed. It's hard to take a pic and feed a baby at the same time. Do forgive!

Josh+Food=Fun

I don't even remember what he was eating, some vegetable mix, maybe. But it was fun. He got so messy, and I let him. It's bath night, after all. =)

I love it. That serious face on my One-Sock-Wonder.

My Ryobi Man

I was installing child locks on the kitchen cabinets when I discovered something Josh inherited from his grandfathers and great grandfathers...a love of power tools.

Talking

Josh loves to "talk", but when naptime strikes, he goes from happy to sleepy in a split second.

Wrestling

Josh and I like to get on the floor before bedtime and "wrestle." He laughs so hard, especially when I do sit ups. I have to say I've never enjoyed doing crunches quite this much...

Pulling Up

I was wondering when he would get all the way up under there. His upper body strength is incredible now. He just pulls with his arms, and his little slender body snakes along behind him :)

Josh is enjoying the thrill of pulling up and exploring what lies above him. He stays on his knees so far, but once I have seen him pull up one knee, plant his foot on the ground, and look up at me as if to say, "Dare me, Mom?" He's going to be standing soon.

Whenever I pull out the camera, Felix gets mad with jealousy and runs over to sabotage my photographic efforts best he can. He rubs against my elbow and knocks my camera off my subject (Josh). He walks in front of the camera and flails his tail in front of the eye piece. He walks so close to Josh (in any other circumstances he would never do this) so as to block my view with the camera. Behold the Jealous One.

Josh says, "I'll give you attention!"

Brotherly Love

"What do you think is out there?"
"Not telling."
"You've been?!"
"Scram, Kid."

Sweet Pics

Sorry, they were all so cute, I couldn't pic. Haha, get it? Look at the last one...how looong our baby is? He's in 9 months clothes, and fits them longways but not sideways :)

Funny Sounds and Faces

Get a load of Josh and his new talent: blowing through his nose. It sounds like a sniff, but he's actually blowing out. He also makes some pretty cute faces with his mouth, etc. I don't know where this kid gets this stuff.

The Cat in the Hat

"But our fish said, 'No! No!
Make that cat go away!
Tell that Cat in the Hat
You do NOT want to play.'"

A Week in Review...

It's true, there's more than one way to skin a cat. In this video, Josh starts out feeding his curiosity, and he partakes one way or another. I think I stopped him from ingesting anything harmful, though.

Il faisait beau la semaine dernière (The weather was lovely last week)

So Josh and I did some gardening in the rose bed out front, fertilizing the roses and watching the tulips and hyacinth popping out of the earth inbetween the rose bushes.

And this week, with the help of family in town, we hung a flag out on the front porch. It will stay there 'till Daddy gets home.

Josh helps Mommy do the laundry

He's my faithful companion. I love him so much!

This picture looks so much like Jordan's baby pics to me.

And this one looks like my baby pics! Sorry there's none to post here and compare. Parents, what do you think?
